THE UNIFORMS ARE HERE! THE UNIFORMS ARE HERE!!!

I'm so excited!  It's hard to sleep knowing this coming Thursday 5/15 we'll be getting our new uniforms!!  The new shirt feel, so soft, a WHITE hat this year, and that new uniform smell...  Can anything be more exciting?!?!

Volunteers & Section Leaders

Be at school by 6:15pm.  That's not parking your car at 6:15, not walking to the school doors at 6:15, that's inside at 6:15 looking at our wonderful, glorious leader for instructions in extreme anticipation of the bright shiny faces of our members who'll be picking up their uniforms.

Members Picking Up Uniforms

I know it's really hard to contain your excitement, but here are a few things to remember:

  • Do NOT try to enter the building before 6:30pm.  Everyone has a uniform, getting in the building before 6:30pm won't get you a better uniform.  (we might try our new non-staff prevention where you might get a rather large shock or bucket of slime dropped on you if you try to enter before 6:30pm - or not...)

  • Check in with your Section Leader.  (RSVP for the after Grand Floral Parade lunch if you haven't).  You will be given a shirt size tag.  DO NOT LOSE IT!  Guard it with your life!  If someone tries to steal it from you, use your marching band-fu skills to prevent them from getting it!

  • Walk - do not run - to pick up your shirt & hat.  Give them the tag you were just given.  (whew, I always feel better when I can give that up and don't have the pressure of keeping it safe.)

  • DO NOT WEAR THE SHIRT DURING REHEARSAL.  I know how hard that is, the first thing I always want to do is put it on and wear it the rest of the day - and sleep in it, and not take it off until I have to wash it before our first performance.  It's just soooo exciting!  But it's MORE exciting to have fresh shirts for the first performance.  Ah, that fresh shirt smell coming from the full band at the first performance....  mmmmm.......

If you CAN'T make it to pick up your uniform, contact a friend to pick it up for you.  You need to give them a note saying, "I authorize [your friends name here] to pickup my uniform for me."  This can be a written note, a fancy card, a poster board with all kinds of decorations, or just an email/text.  Nicole is not your friend.  I am not your friend.  Bigfoot might be your friend, but he's not in the band, so he can't pick up your uniform for you. If you don't have a friend, one will be found for you - then you can grab lunch, go see a movie, play a game together, really get to become friends.  (Seriously, if you can't find anyone, contact your section leader or let me know and I'll contact them for you.)

KEEP YOUR WHITE HATS WHITE!!

This is going to be so much harder.  The hats are so cool, so much fun to wear.  But by the universe laws, since they are white, they attract dirt and get dirty SO MUCH EASIER!  Again, I know it's hard, but put the hat somewhere safe, maybe in a hermetically sealed container, somewhere the dust and dirt can't get to it until it's performance time.

One last VERY IMPORTANT thing.  At Thursday's rehearsal, representatives from the Rose Festival and Carl's Jr will be there.  Let's be extra awesome and really make them feel the love we have for them!!

The plan is to be outside, so everyone pray to the weather gods to not rain.  Bring appropriate clothing.

See you Thursday!!!

Trumpet/I'M SO EXCITED!  I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT!  I'M ABOUT TO LOSE MY MIND AND THINK I LIKE IT!!!  (and please weather gods, no hail or snow or monsoon winds or tornados or plague of locusts, m'k?)
